The project is situated on the campus of the Wiener Sängerknaben in Sekirn introduces a new connection point between the local community and the campus, using the topic of local food culture as a common ground. The food academy aims to give a new perspective on local plant and food processing specificities, while also educating the community and tourists about how to grow and process for themselves in a sustainable manner.

While large parts around the Wörthersee are overtaken by anonymous architecture and population in the form of villas and often empty summer residencies, still parts of the local tradition and culture remain in secluded spots. Especially the relationship towards food and its processing has formed a point of identification and manifests in local farmers, fishers and markets. The food academy sekirn tries to offer a platform for coming together, exchanging ideas and educate the young and old as well as the local and tourist about the place Wörthersee and its potentials and traditions.

A series of solid, sheltered terraces, emphasizing through their mass a solid connection to the ground, serve as the above mentioned platforms for workshops, exchange and cooking together. The building itself is surrounded by a large garden with a wide variety of local and edible plants, to offer the possibility to host a gardening and plant knowledge workshop, while the inside of the building hosts two residencies for visiting experts and a community space for events. The archaic simple form of the roof extends over its activities and inhabitants and maintains and impressive presence to the passerby while also framing the idea of everyone coming together under one roof.
